I am an art historian. I study images.

People always ask me if I "do art," as well. I haven't always, but a few years ago I got back in touch with my friend from school, Lori, who was doing amazing things with photography. She recommended some online courses to me, and I was hooked. I travel a lot, and I was happy to finally have the technique to capture images of the special places I visit.

I got the idea to start a photo-a-day project from a friend who also did one. I have the tendency to brood and focus on the negative sometimes (don't we all!), and I thought that if I took one photo every day, at the end of the year, I could look back on that year and I would have visual proof of how awesome my life really is.
If I am completely honest, one of the reasons for my brooding was the lack of a special person to share my life with. In the process of working on this project (coincidentally or not!) I met someone, and now my PADs not only document my wonderful life, but a new journey through life hand in hand with a wonderful man. I have no idea what the future holds, but every day is an amazing adventure.

My attitude toward PAD has changed throughout the year, and I wonder if that is evident in my photos. First I simply wanted to document each day, a sort of photographic journal; then I started to aim at taking "beautiful" pictures. Now I'm focused on PAD as a way to keep in touch with my good friend and Soul Sister, Lori, who got me into photography in the first place :)
