"She's Got Moxie!"
Has anyone heard of this? It's a soda, been around for a while - from Maine, I think. Anyway, the Viking remembers this from his childhood, and just had a 6-pack sent to him. So, I got to try it. It is notorious for being bad, but actually I thought it tasted ok. At any rate, now I can say I've got Moxie ;-)

"New Perfume"
This is my absolute favourite perfume line, introduced to me by a friend who happens to work for Jo Malone. I just ordered these two new scents from him, which I wear together - Grapefruit and Lime Basil Mandarin. They smell amazing - lovely and fresh for summer. And yes, Viking happens to like these on me, too ;-)

1974
Taken with my new toy my new iPhone4, and edited using my CameraBag app (the '1974' filter - makes your photo look like it was taken then). In 1974, I was the same age as Cassie is now :)  All that fun aside, I adore this Captured Moment with my girl, swinging on the tire swing at the park. I love, love, love this photo as much as I love, love, love my Cassie.

"Back to the Daily Grind"
This was my view all day. No Towers of London, no tours of Cambridge, no Vikings...just me at my desk. The lovely bouquet of spring flowers on my coffee table, however, was a bright spot in the distance :)

"Sunday Picnic"
We went on a picnic today, taking advantage of the very rare gorgeous spring weather here. We had intended to go to the Pitmedden Gardens, just 1/2 hour outside of Aberdeen, but when we arrived, they were closed. A sign said that the "grounds" were open, so we parked the car, wandered through the woods, and found a random sunny place to park ourselves. It was so warm that I could take off my shoes and stand barefooted - this RARELY happens in Scotland.

"We make-a-dah-pizza"
I had a small dinner party last night with a friend from work. The theme was "American food" - chips and onion dip, Sam Adams beer, homemade pizzas, and pumpkin pie (made with canned pumpkin). My friends got a kick out of how the pumpkin came from a can ("don't you have real pumpkins in America?"), and my friend's husband told me that pizza was something that he associated with America as a kid, from reading Mad Magazine. He said that one of the characters in it was always eating pizza, and at that time they didn't have pizza in the UK - or any kind of informal eatery, for that matter.
This is my Viking, helping me make-a-dah-pizzas :)

"Minnie's First Bath"
I suppose some would consider waiting seven months to give a baby a bath child abuse. However, with cars, I think it's ok ;-) Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, and I figured that after chauffeuring us up and down the country last week, she deserved a treat. She's all bright and shiny again :)

"Sunset"
I didn't want to return from our trip; we were having such a great time (usually I am happy to return home, because I travel so much). In the car on Wednesday I joked about just keeping on going, and driving off into the sunset past Aberdeen. This sunset greeted us the day after we returned, and I popped outside to capture it.

"Viking Bus"
We spent the day in York, and one of the highlights (for me, at least) was going to the Jorvik Viking Centre with my Viking, built on the remains of a Viking settlement in York. My Viking spotted this one on the bus, and told me that this is the mascot/logo for the Minnesota Vikings. I snapped this picture quickly, and really liked how it came out.

"Breakfast Flowers"
OK, I admit it, I forgot to PAD one day this week, too! And it was this day. I had been taking pictures every day, so I didn't consciously take PAD pictures - I just figured that I'd end up with at least one picture from each day. But on Tuesday we just drove from Birdy's house in Cambridgeshire to my friend Freddie and Mary's house in Wetherby, and spent the evening catching up with them. So there were no photos. I chose to upload this one for today because it is the one picture that could have been from today, if I had taken a photo. These are the flowers that Birdy laid out on the breakfast table each morning :)

"Visiting Cambridge"
After I gave my talk in the morning (the original reason for this trip), I spent the day walking around the city with my friend Birdy (who we were staying with in Cambridgeshire) and the Viking. We had a lovely time. Birdy took us to Corpus Clock, a new clock that they installed in the city. A group of people were gathered around it, photographing it from a distance. All I could see, however, was the pendulum below, and its....reflective possibilities! After the crowd had taken all of their pictures, we drew in closer and took this picture.

"Bliss"
OK folks, satisfied? This is me and my Viking at the Tower of London, with the Tower Bridge behind us. He had never been to London before, and I know the city like the back of my hand. It was so much fun showing him my city! I wanted to take a picture of us in front of the Tower Bridge, but I forgot that the zoom was on, so you can barely see the iconic bridge behind us. But this is still my favourite picture from the day.

"Durham"
On the way down to Cambridgeshire from Newcastle, we stopped in Durham, a tiny little hill town with a medieval cathedral and castle. As we were walking across the bridge to get to the town, this police helicopter was flying overhead. We still have no idea what was going on, but it seemed strange for there to be a helicopter chase in this quiet little town. I mainly chose this picture for today because of the...reflections...

"Meeting"
I just loved this photo. I took a lot of photos that I liked that day in Newcastle, but I just keep coming back to this one. For those who are curious, this is my Viking. I love the way he's just standing there, and the goose is just standing there, and it kind of looks like they're having this silent conversation, or both contemplating one another. Don't worry, for those who are still curious, another picture of the Viking is coming up...

"Hadrian's Wall"
Day one of our trip, we stopped to see the remains of Hadrian's Wall (Roman fortifications) on our way to Newcastle. This fort was on top of a hill, and it was sooooo windy, despite how calm and peaceful it looks here. It was also way more fun than it looks here :)

Cassie Time
We had a 10am Hearing Test in Glastonbury followed by a 1pm ENT doctor's appointment also in Glastonbury, so we spent the mid-day in Barnes & Noble eating lunch at Starbucks then snoozing with doggie in a comfy chair. I've decided that B&N is a great place to take kids - sorry local library, but you just cannot compare with having Starbucks on-site. Oh, how I wish I didn't need to work and we could do this on a regular basis!
