Football Sunday

Auntie Carmen bought Cassie (or Jim?) this Cardinals outfit for my shower. She did the math, figured when football season would be (when Cassie was 15-19 months old) and bought a size 18months like any sensible buyer would do. Cassie, who tall for her age, passed the 18M size back in July ... passed the 24M size in August ... and passed the 2T size in September!! (on top at least, thanks to her Budda Belly, she is still a 2T on the bottom). So --- we were relieved that the 18M outfit fit  -- even though in the real world, Papa would not be so happy with the short skirt!

This too dedication to the cause, I noticed these stand out leaves when parking at work, so I lifted BOTH pair of sunglasses to snap a quick picture. I was completely unable to see ANYTHING in the bright light, so I had no idea on my phone display how it came out. At least you can see my point, but I do wish I had more time (and eyesight) with this one!

OK, so, for some reason there is this wooden box in my shower - directly under the showerhead. I was cleaning it the other day, and I discovered that the wood had finally rotted out when my hand went straight through it. (I don't really want to look into the hole, but it seems like it's just an area behind the shower for pipes, etc.) Anyway, I figured I had better cover the hole, otherwise water would get in it and it would get even more mouldy. So, Hello Kitty, and Lori's b-day gift, to the rescue.

"Jester Hat, Then and Now"
Well, this picture worked better as a concept than in practice. My friend from my BU London days, whose name is also Matt, is visiting from Boston this weekend. Over drinks with my Matt, we were reminiscing about the London days, and Matt mentioned that I used to wear a jester hat, with bells on the end, that annoyed the crap out of him. I told him that I still have the hat, and in fact I have it with me in Aberdeen. When we got home, I brought it out of the closet, and everyone tried it on. Matt looked through some of my old facebook photos, to find the ones from the London days. There was one of him wearing the hat with a less-than-pleased look on his face. I knew I hadn't PADed yet that day, and thought that a great idea for a PAD would be him wearing the hat, holding his iPad with the photo of him wearing it 17 years ago. Well, iPad screens don't photograph very well, but you can still see the outline of the hat, if not his face, on the screen.

I saw this on a menu in Georgia - spagsana - a combination of spaghetti and lasagna. I have no idea how they made it, so I just guessed, and made lasagna with long spaghetti instead of lasagna noodles. It was pretty friggin delicious.

In Chicago I went on a walking tour given by the tour company Chicago Detours pretty cool.  The Chicago Tribune has bricks, rocks, etc from buildings and structures all over the world.  I saw this one and knew this had to be my contribution for this day.  Only problem was that it was about 15 to 20 feet high!  I hope I got it ok...

"On top of the World"
In the clouds on top of one of the UK's highest mountain peaks. The mountain top was in complete cloud when we arrived. We took a chance and took the gondolas up to the top, walked to the lookout point, and for a brief ten minutes we had this amazing view. In the span of about ten minutes the fog rolled in and we were once again facing a wall of fog. But we were still on top of the world...

Returning from lunch, listening to a little of my audiobook before going into the office, I noticed this reflection. The bracelet, by the way, is one I made for a 3-month old Cassie at the 4-H birthday bash in Sept 2010 .. so tiny now, it fit her then!
