"Love Bridge"
This is my favourite bridge in Paris. I've always loved coming here, walking across it, taking in the view. I had been coming here long before I had even heard about Sex and the City. At the end of the series, Mr. Big and Carrie stand on this bridge, and Big finally tells her she's "the one." Now, people leave "love locks" fixed to this bridge, symbolising their enduring love.
Last year, when I came to Paris with the students, I walked across this bridge with Mary and said "someday, I will come to this bridge with someone I love." Her response: "of course you will." She was sure about it; I wasn't. Well, it's one year later and I have the one I love. We have been to Paris, but we have not been to this bridge....YET.
I have so many things to say about this photo.
ReplyDelete1 - (this is a compliment) it pisses me off, because if I ever visit this bridge I will be hesitant to try to take pics, now that I have seen an awesome capture. The blown higlights are wonderful in this case, the shadow, the angle, the composition - c'est manifique! (I typed that from 12th grade memory, which is 20 YEARS AGO!!!!!)
2 - I love how you focused on one lock to show the writing on it, and that lock was able to represent all of the other locks/loves present in the photo.
3 - Personally I adore that you have a Sex & The City reference, because I know the show has personal meaning/relevance to you in many ways - and continues to :)
4 - Your backstory rocks :)
This is a frame-worthy PAD, my friend. Nicely done!!
