"Fireworks"
The 5th of November is a day to remember in the UK...the day that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the parliament in a plot to bring back the Catholic monarchy. Nowadays, it is celebrated as Bonfire Night, and although Aberdeen didn't have a bonfire, it did have fireworks. It just so happens that they are the same fireworks I see every time Matt and I kiss. Well, the picture was better as a concept than in execution, but I still like it :)

MIA?

By the way, did Paul just up and quit without so much as a word, like Dennis did? :(

"Christmas in Edinburgh"
When we arrived in Edinburgh on our way back from Paris, we were surprised to find Christmas trees at the airport! Since the UK doesn't haven Thanksgiving, they go straight from Halloween to Christmas. The shops are all decorated, along with everything else. I returned home to take down the Halloween decorations and put up the Thanksgiving ones (which were difficult to find here, but I managed!). It's hard to be thinking of Thanksgiving when everything around me says Christmas! Oh well!

"Love Bridge"
This is my favourite bridge in Paris. I've always loved coming here, walking across it, taking in the view. I had been coming here long before I had even heard about Sex and the City. At the end of the series, Mr. Big and Carrie stand on this bridge, and Big finally tells her she's "the one." Now, people leave "love locks" fixed to this bridge, symbolising their enduring love.
Last year, when I came to Paris with the students, I walked across this bridge with Mary and said "someday, I will come to this bridge with someone I love." Her response: "of course you will." She was sure about it; I wasn't. Well, it's one year later and I have the one I love. We have been to Paris, but we have not been to this bridge....YET.

"Mary and the First Crepe"
Just arrived in Paris. Lunch at the creperie. Honestly, the ones at Perk on Main were better!
Mary is my colleague and good friend. My partner in crime on these History of Art field trips, and in other events...

"Halloween Love"
If you're wondering, Matt went as...surprise, surprise...a Viking, and I went as his "metal girl," wearing one of his metal t-shirts :)
