I like the picture...although it looks so ominous... I've seen other people using that Instagram thing; the results are usually pretty good, although I have no idea how it works!
I think the Instagram thing, while clever and cool on one level, is really just a fad for the most part and merely applies one of a small number of filters to fairly pedestrian pics to "create" art-like images when it's not really a product of art as much as one of techné. I believe art requires more than clicking or tapping an icon and having an effect rendered.
That aside however, I do appreciate that sometimes the products of things like Instagram can be intriguing and even aesthetically pleasing. I feel as though you selected the right effect for this image mostly because of Jim's shirt. The nostalgic effect of the filter harkens back to the grand days of the Whalers and in a sort of dishonest way imparts credibility to the image. In short, I like the choice and impact of the effect.
