"The Help" I just finished listening to the audio book, which was wonderful. The book is in the first person of 3 characters, and the audio book was narrated by 3 different people - it was a great listening experience. Plus, one of the narrators played the character in the movie, too!
That being said, the movie adaptation was .. "OK". Not bad, because the casting was lovely. The acting was terrific. The screenwriting/adaptation left something to be desired.
It was a long book (3 parts to the audiobook) so it understandably needed to be edited to fit the screen. I can even identify obvious areas to cut. I felt they took a few too many shortcuts, the most evident being the half white/half black character was a black character in the movie. The fact that this character is half white/black is truly significant in the book - arguably a pivotable storyline. They just overlooked that in the movie and made her a black character.
I WANT TO BE IN THIS SPOT! :) (Not just cuz you're there ;-) ...this looks SOOOOO awesome!) What movie was it???
