Ice Storm

We're having an ice storm today. I took a break from work and stepped outside to take a few pictures. These are incredibly fun to play with/edit - and I did not even use a LR Preset! I wish I had more time to work on them.

A few more pics here

Well, this is how my day started off....thankfully, it did get better from here.

"Lamp"

It sounds like we have a reoccurring theme today on PAD...

This was my desperate attempt at a last minute picture. My DSLR battery pack was dead - and I couldn't find the charger - so alas, we have another picture taken with my Blackberry.

Is my life really so full of clutter that it's all I have to offer PAD?
Sigh.

"Not Feeling Like It"

This is a journalistic entry rather than a photographic one.

I did not feel like taking a photo today; this was the only one I took. After going to the walk-in clinic again, I headed to the pharmacy again ~ this time for antibiotics (sinus infection) and drops (pink eye in both eyes).

Tomorrow's another day.

"The Lonely Academic"
Don't read too much into the title...I didn't leave this chair the entire day! Being an academic has its advantages (like working from home with a flexible schedule), however, it doesn't help PAD much sometimes...
I deliberately post-edited the image so that the area in front of the computer would be blown-out, an attempt to suggest the brilliance that I am either pouring into (or that is coming out of) my computer screen! (that's a joke, for those of you who don't know me, or my sense of humour, or my lack of confidence!!!) Not the greatest image, but this is all I've got to show for today.

"Book Of Life"

I've been trying to make sense of a few things this week, and found my car headed to see Mom this afternoon. On the way out, I saw this stone and was captivated by it. I, with no college under my belt, often say I went to "The School of Life". It's a spirit that Mom would appreciate and understand. Seeing this on a headstone made me think about how many lessons I have been drawing from Mom's Book of Life.

"Stuck in the Mud"
It was just one of those days...I had very similar feelings about yesterday as Lori did. After the gym, I hunted around to try to 'photograph' an 'answer' for Paul with regard to my previous photo ("As Good a Reason as Any"). The 'answer' is here, kind of...but probably too far in the distance to see. In addition to being too far from my photographic subject, the other side of the gym (pictured here) turned out to be a really gross unattended parking lot in a not-so-nice neighbourhood. It did have one merit, though, these LINES in the mud!

Yesterday was a yawner for me, too. I did some work in the morning, went to the gym, and went to the movies at night. Nothing inspired me, and I felt a little stuck in the mud, so this photo appropriately captures that!

"Yawner"

This photo is a yawner for me; I am not thrilled with photography today. Granted, I did not put effort into it today (I never left my house, and my house is a mess so I was not inspired to take photos). It's out of focus, blown highlights, yada yada. I liked the image because Froggie is Cassie's sleepy friend, and I like how he's keeping watch over her. I caught a waking-up yawn after her nap, even though it's buried in the mattress.

Tomorrow's another day.

In the spirit of lines...

"Paparazzo"

I was picking up Wil at a friend's house and decided to surprise him by snapping a picture right when he opened the door. I wasn't sure what to expect, but when I look at this now, it reminds me of a typical shot taken by paparazzi.

No rest for the wicked. I didn't have much free time today but the few minutes before four o'clock this afternoon afforded me enough time to snap this shot of my watch. For me, there's nothing quite like being unemployed to illustrate well how time keeps slipping into the future.

"Morning Ritual"

(didn't Amy have a post with a similar title??)

My morning order: 2 large coffees with cream and 2 Splenda. McDonald's has a special New England blend that beats Dunkin Donuts by far. All coffees are $1 ~ so for $2.12 I have my coffee for the day. Yep, I reheat the second one. It's still delicious :)

(Amy ~ there's a shout-out to you in that link!)

As I said, this week was all about lines for me, for some reason...and just as proof - this was not the picture that I had set out to take. I walk past this playing field on my way into work every day, and today it was such a beautifully sunny and warm day that I tried to capture that, by taking a picture of the field. After I snapped a few pictures, I carried on walking to my office, and these lines just appeared before me!

Hell freezes over...

I know, I know - it's a posed generic picture of my two sons. BUT, I was in shock when I looked over and the two of them were hugging each other and actually doing something other than trying to kill one another. I seized the moment and asked them to quickly smile for the camera.
