"Book Of Life"

I've been trying to make sense of a few things this week, and found my car headed to see Mom this afternoon. On the way out, I saw this stone and was captivated by it. I, with no college under my belt, often say I went to "The School of Life". It's a spirit that Mom would appreciate and understand. Seeing this on a headstone made me think about how many lessons I have been drawing from Mom's Book of Life.

  1. An interesting crop, Lori. ;)

I love how the warmth of this shot presents a great contrast to the "typical" cemetery / graveyard / headstone black and white shot most of us gravitate to. The words on the stone remind me of my own struggle with the concept of education, the practical application of it in the so-called Real World, and just how full of crap most people are, asking myself the entire time, “What really matters?”
