"Revisiting RED ABdN"
Those who know me will know that RED ABdN was an exhibition project from last semester that I was really excited about. I had given my students an assignment: to create posters advertising the University of Aberdeen using the style of Soviet propaganda art from the 19-teens and '20s. The next task was for them to create an exhibition of those very posters. My students really rose to the challenge and created an exhibition that far exceeded my expectations. It was such a joy working on it with them - they were a really great group of students. This shot is from the entrance to the exhibition, and the image shows the logo designed by one of the students.
Although this is a 'topic' from last year, I went back to the exhibition yesterday to photograph it; I've put an album together that documents the progress of the exhibition, from start to finish, and wanted to include some exhibition views. I've been thinking about the exhibition a lot lately, as I struggle to get inspired about the work for the coming semester. I've been trying to write, and just haven't been able to get into it. Working on this project last semester was so exciting and energising, and I've been feeling nostalgic about having that feeling. I'm sure it will return, it's just a matter of when...

I am so glad you shared this! PAD has been somewhat of a photo-journal for me, and knowing you I know how personal this entry is for you.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I also really like how you framed this shot! The lines are awesome.
Thanks, on both counts!
ReplyDeleteYes, so far this month this has been like a photo-journal. And like you, I am really enjoying it! :)
The lines have me really curious here, Amy. Is the left vertical line of the student's logo placard really angled like that or is it just the bent perspective of a normal lens?
