A cuppa, before I start to write.

  1. Love the steam! I'm impressed that you managed to capture it, especially considering how you were shooting into the light.

I also like the messy penmanship on the table but what's with the mental illness? You wrote, "healing is about revealing."

Did you reveal this in PAD on purpose or was it just a coincidence? Either way, it's cool that it's in there (just like Prego (not to be confused with preggo!) - "It's in there!!

  2. Thanks, Paul. There was surprisingly little effort to this photo. I was getting ready to sit down to write, poured myself a cup of tea, plopped it down next to my computer and notes, walked out of the room, and when I walked back in I noticed the steam, grabbed my camera and shot. So, amazingly, this was not 'posed.'

As for the notes, once again - coincidence. I am writing an article on two Russian artists who deal with the Soviet past in their art, and one of them does this by exploring mental illness. He had himself committed to a mental institution for 2 weeks, where he coexisted with the patients, most of whom had schizophrenia. The full note says 'mental illness - healing is about revealing/uncovering (the) past & dealing with it,' which relates to this artist's work very much. I didn't really check the notes before I posted the photo, but in the back of my mind I was hoping that there was nothing too 'stupid' sounding that someone who wanted to zoom in on this photo would find! :-P

    It's in there....ah, I remember that one! =)

  3. Amy - words from the wise: Paul will notice EVERYTHING about a photo. That's a compliment to him actually, he notices the details - which I too often overlook. As for your photo, I just smile when I see your handwriting!
