This is my favorite PAD photo so far, too! It's whimsical and balanced at the same time. Rediculous, but in my imagination the overall purple hue seems to be a result of the little red and blue indicators on the faucet handles, there's practically no reflection of the camera or the photographer, the off-center tile line and suds add some unpredictibility, and the omission of pinkie toes leaves... intrigue. You also managed to hit most of the PAD subject themes so far: lines, curves and (parts of) people. Well done, Amy
Thank you guys! Your comments made my day, when I saw them first thing this morning.
I had a really bad day, followed by a bad date, or rather a good date with a bad ending, and the only thing that saved it was coming home, taking a bath, and taking this picture!
Mark, the purple hue was the result of me playing with the colour saturation and tone in the post-edits. I ended up like it with this warmer look, rather than a cooler one. I also experimented with showing more or less toe, and liked the less much more!
I also realised that in order to hit the 'people' theme on PAD, I'm going to have to start photographing myself (or parts of myself!); I live in an empty house.
Just wanted to reemphasize the compliment - I've thought all day about how you've raised the bar for me. My friend Carmen who stalks this blog also said this is her favorite PAD ever. (I'm pretty sure you are her favorite of the 4 of us as well!)
Wow, thank you SO much for saying this. It really means so much to me to hear it, especially considering what this picture represents for me (feel free to share the story with Carmen if you like! :)
Oh my. This is my favorite PAD so far --- JUST LOVE IT!
ReplyDeletegotta say more --- I love how the suds at the bottom make it look like the pic is creatively cut in a shape or something ... just so cool!
