I did it.

Worth A Single Word
Following what may be my favorite Mother's Day ever (and it was only first!), my Monday was a steady reminder of what sucks about my job. Nothing earth-shatteringly bad, just enough to remind me that somethings never change. I took a mental-health lunch break with the simple intention to get some iced coffee. When I drove by a grassy field dotted with dandelions, I remembered the Soul Pancake Creative Challenge that inspired me last Friday, so here's my first submission.

Guess who surprised me by finishing his work early on a Saturday night and inviting me out to dinner. Friday night with my SS and Saturday night with my Viking - not bad! I decided to get really gussied up and broke out the matching shoes - my very highest heels - and handbag, and chiffon scarf. The toes had been prepared previously ;-)

Me 'n Cass
It's interesting that I chose this poor quality image/snapshot for today's PAD - Friday night while getting a pedicure, I was surfing Soul Pancake and was inspired to start reaching further in my photography. Although I like that PAD has been something of a journal for me, I've not been as artistic as I would have hoped to be.
So what do I post the next day? A silly iPhone photo :) Oh well, inspiration takes time to grow - at least that's what I'll go with for now! So many ideas to execute, just need time to get 'em done. Maybe I'll strive for achieving at least one a week. We'll see. Just talking about it here makes me commit, in some loose non-commital way.

About four times per year the International Market comes to town. They close off one street near my house, and fill it with vendors from all over Europe. There are mostly food stands - German sausages, French crepes, Spanish paella, sometimes even Polish food! I walk through it every time it comes, even though it's usually too crowded, and I never end up buying anything. I just like that something different is happening in town. I spotted this flower stall at the end of the market, and just thought how laughable it is that they are selling palm trees. We'll be lucky if it gets into the 80s EVER during the summer. Well, life couldn't be that perfect.... :)

Last night I went to the movies with my Soul Sister. We saw "Something Borrowed." Pretty ironic, because it was all about best friends...not that my Soul Sister is anything like the best friend in the movie (and I hope that I'm not like her, either)! I was happy to have someone go to the movies with...my poor Viking is overwhelmed with final papers right now. He's in the home stretch, but because of all the work, it means that I often have to spend date night on my own. Not this night, though! The evening turned out even better than I had planned, because after I had a great evening going to see this chick flick with my Soul Sister, I got a text from my man who found some time to take a break to see me...just when I was missing him.
I snapped this picture on the way home from the movies.

Just to make Lori giggle, I'll refer to my daily breakfast cereal by its British name...porridge ;-) In American, I have OATMEAL for breakfast every day, usually with seeds and raisins, but today I had a special treat of leftover dessert from the previous night...British Strawberries. My favourite time of year - when berries fill the shops!

For those who don't know what this is, it has nothing to do with "style" in the Carrie Bradshaw sense. It's a 1,000-page manual (or thereabouts) about how to properly reference. Footnotes, bibliographies, that kind of stuff. It helped me write my book, but my style - I discovered that myself! ;-)
