As a cost-saving effort, the university removed the rubbish bins from our offices. For some reason or other, they also banned us from having our own bins, and informed us that each time we had a piece of rubbish, we should carry it to the centrally located bins. Most of us just bought our own bins for our offices, but because rumours were going around that they would be removed if discovered, many of us looked for creative ways to disguise our bins. One of my colleagues labeled hers "art," and said that it wasn't a rubbish bin, but an art installation. Here you can see that I labelled mine "research." Well, it is where some of my ideas end up...

I truly enjoyed your sharing this PAD/story.
ReplyDeleteOnce I got over the giggles at the word Rubbish (sorry, I just delight over your European/English sometimes - I say that with love and respect for our mother language!) - I was reminded that as different as our jobs sometimes seem, we're all connected by the political nonsense that is present in every job known to (wo)man. CRAZY! I have to deal with so much garbage at work - and here you are, not allowed to deal with garbage at work!!
ps ... Technically, you turned yours into Art as well by PADing it!
True!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I made you giggle with my British-isms. I assure you I do not do it with the accent like that annoying friend of Monica and Phoebe's on Fridays (if you haven't seen that episode, then I guess you will have no idea what I'm talking about!)
Yes, it is true, the politics and bureaucracy are the same wherever you go, and this place is no different then where you are, I'm sure! :(
Rubbish!
